mt above sea level. Can be reached by the motorway “autostrada A26”,
in direction Gravellona Toce exit at Carpugnino (exit with permission to
transit also with buses). After having driven through a woody area for approximately
1 km ( well known area for mushrooms and chestnuts) it is possible to admire
a splendid view of Lake Maggiore. Brisino, in the ancient times, was a predominantly
agricultural area with vines and orchards, which could be seen shining in
the sun on the hills above the Lake. The small restructured historical centre
dates back to the 1800’s where there is also the only National Monument
of the district of Stresa, the “Chiesa Romanica” dating back
to 1300’s dedicated to S.Albino, there is also the “Chiesa Parriocchiale” dating
back to the 1700’s dedicated to the “Santissima Trinità”.
The inhabitants are little more than a hundred and some of them are dedicated
still today to gardening, as well as growing fruit trees and taking care
of small courtyard animals. During the spring and summer holidays, it is
a popular holiday destination for people coming from the city centres as
well as other areas of Europe, such as Germany and Sweden. Brisino is 3
kms from Stresa, it can be reached with the regular service bus as well
as by private car. For those who wish to enjoy the benefits of a nature
walk, it is possible to walk through paths which lead towards the lake,
like the “Sentiero of the Chestnut trees” that can also be done
by mountain bike.
Meeting places and free time
The main places for free time in Brisino are: Football fields, tennis courts,
bars, pizzeria restaurants with pizza wood-oven, hotel, pub and grocery.
In this small corner of the “pearl” of Lake Maggiore it is possible
to find a soft breeze in the summer in this evocative panorama that dominates
the Borromean side, in winter one is welcomed by the warm log-fires and
the kindness of its inhabitants.
Events
In the central weeks of August, in the small park in front of the “Parochial
Church ” a saga takes place with music and dance.
